Why Reason & Heart
The name Reason & Heart Counseling reflects the way we believe meaningful therapy happens.
Reason
Reason is curiosity, practical tools, and evidence-based treatment.
Heart
Heart is authenticity, compassion, and a therapeutic relationship where vulnerability feels natural.
Lasting change comes from both.
At Reason & Heart Counseling, we strive to create a space where you feel genuinely understood while also leaving each session with greater clarity, insight, and practical strategies you can use in everyday life.
The method
A bridge between how you think and how you feel

Founder & lead practitioner
Meet Lisa, LMHC, PMH-C
Hi, I'm Lisa.
As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, I help individuals and couples navigate complex emotions, life transitions, and relationship patterns.
My approach is warm, active, and thoughtful. I want you to feel genuinely comfortable and understood, and I also believe our work together should help you create real, practical movement in your life. We will explore underlying dynamics, build actionable skills, and work through what feels stuck or overwhelming.
As a former attorney turned therapist, my legal background shaped how I listen, ask questions, and make sense of intricate situations. Today, I pair that analytical mindset with deep human empathy. That balance defines my practice and inspired the name Reason & Heart Counseling.
Areas of focus
Specialized where thinking and feeling meet
No matter where you land on the continuum, we come to the middle with depth and practical tools.
Emotion regulation & intense emotions
When feelings surge or shut down, and you need both understanding and usable skills.
Anxiety & depression
Worry, heaviness, or numbness that keeps narrowing what feels possible.
Perinatal mental health
Pregnancy, postpartum, and the quiet weight of becoming or being a parent.
High achievers, overthinking & perfectionism
A life that works on paper while something quieter keeps cracking.
Couples counseling
Connection, distance, and the patterns that keep repeating between you.
Life transitions
Parenthood, career change, college, retirement, and the identity shift that comes with them.
Begin
A thoughtful place to begin
You do not have to be in crisis, and you do not need everything figured out. Sometimes the first meaningful step is a conversation with someone who can help make sense of complicated things.
